About the archive
A sealed monument with an open evidence trail.
DECUS.org is a non-commercial, read-only reconstruction of our beloved pioneering technical community, its knowledge, and the good old days it represents—preserved under the direction of Eric Bach.
Provenance
Original record before modern summary.
Every substantive object is intended to retain its source, acquisition date, rights status, checksum, transformations, review status, and relationships. Transcripts improve search and accessibility; they never replace the original record.
Truth labels
Uncertainty remains visible.
A direct copy or scan with a traceable source.
Period material published by DECUS, Digital, media, or participants.
Eric Bach’s first-person memory, recorded and dated.
A modern explanation that helps visitors understand an old record.
Citation
Stable links for a durable record.
Citations will identify the creator, title, archive ID, original date, evidence status, release number, canonical URL, and access date. Page titles and permanent IDs will remain stable across technical rebuilds.

Preservation is not permission to republish everything.
Software, personal information, screenshots, publications, and descriptive metadata receive separate review. Factual corrections, privacy requests, accessibility fixes, and rights removals may be documented after sealing; new editorial content may not.
Preservation
Built to outlive one platform.
The archive is designed as pre-rendered HTML with durable formats, checksummed assets, release manifests, offline copies, and no production content database. Technical maintenance keeps the monument standing without adding history.
